A couple of weeks ago we took a family trip to Philadelphia, in the process getting coveted tickets to the Frida Kahlo retrospective (great--crowded--best not experienced with squirmy small boys). But the boys enjoyed the magnificent plaza in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art much more than anything inside (even though I did try to tell the baby about the greatness of Duchamp's "The Bride Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors, Even").

This one was a NIGHTMARE at Disneyland until he got the toy he was promised. Resolution: next time, he gets the toy up front, and then we have a decent time afterwards.

brotherly affection

Boy #1 continues to be intensely--at times TOO intensely--affectionate and protective toward his little brother. However, Boy #2 is a big ol' bruiser and will be able to take his elder sooner than his elder thinks.

We took the boys to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson during our visit to their grandfather last weekend. It's a great place, and particularly good for children (albeit children probably a little older than ours). I had to miss the Gila monster demonstration because we had much more important coloring to do.

Boy #1's brother is, as you can see, healthy and big. He could lap his brother in a year.
